Nowadays it is quite common to see that some very small goods are wrapped in the boxes which are as big as a shoebox. And it is also quite natural for us to open several boxes or wrappers before we finally find the item we buy. These examples demonstrate that overpackaging has become a quite common phenomenon in our daily life.

What are the causes of this problem? On the one hand, in order to make more profits, many manufactures usually wrap their products with many unnecessary materials. On the other hand, many customers think that the delicately packaged goods are superior to those with plain packaging. The emergence of excessive packaging has led to many bad impact that can't be neglected. It is not only a waste of materials but also creates a huge amount of domestic waste which contributes to the environmental problems.

To change this situation, I think we should take the following measures. First, laws must be made to impose restrictions on packaging. Second, the government should use various media to arouse customers' awareness that packaging doesn't equal to quality, and also let them know the bad impact of it.

In recent years,we have witnessed an unfavorable social phenomenon that more and more goods were packaged so extravagant.Excessive packaging has been brought into public attention.There are three possible reasons to account for this phenomenon.

To begin with,more and more people choose the goods just want to be a present which must be good-looking and luxurious,as a result that they ignore the true value of the goods.Sometimes the cost of the package are more expensive than the goods itself which let us feel ridiculous.What's more ,the manufacturers have a wrong concept that they want to complete with others by goods' beautiful package but not quality,which should be corrected.In the third place,the government's commercial apartment is short of measures to control this phenomenon.

In my opinion,it is important to take measure to avoid such occurrences.Among those solutions,changing the consumers' value concept is one.Government also should help to do something.As long as the consumer,manufacturers,government make joint efforts,a sound solution is not far away.

Nowadays the phenomena of excessive packaging of goods are prevailing in our society: clothes swathed in tissue paper, placed in cardboard box and finally wrapped in well-designed plastic bags, imported bottles of grape wine packed in wooden boxes, fruits put in hand-woven baskets, to name but a few.

There are several causes of excessive packaging. The first reason is that a large number of companies believe that they can attract customers’ attention and stimulate their purchasing desire by over-packaging their goods, thus gaining more profits. On the other hand, quite a number of consumers mistakenly hold that the more delicate the package is, the better the quality will be, thus encouraging excessive packaging.

In my point of view, excessive packaging has disastrous consequences, including the loss of precious resources, excessive consumption of water and energy, and unnecessary extraction of scarce land for landfill.

To solve the problem, it’s necessary to take the following measures. First, laws and regulations must be made to restrict excessive packaging of companies. In addition, we need to raise consumer’s awareness that excessive packaging doesn’t equal to high quality and advocate packaging recycling.
