Animal farm is the first book I choose to read among the list of BBC Top 100 Novels. The book has aroused strong reaction and became famous since the date it was published. It reveals human reality by telling animals story in funny but extremely ironic way.

The story begins with a meeting held in one night by the animals in farm. Because of the great dissatisfaction of their owner, animals decide to have a revolution, chasing away the farmers and realize the equality among animals. They make definitions about “friends” and “enemy”, elect the leader- an old pig, who died soon after the meeting and is taken place by two other pigs named “Snowball” and “Napoleon”, and enacted Seven Commandments. The days at the beginning are harmonious. But soon theres a split between two leaders- Snowball is declared enemy of the revolution. Whats worse, leader pigs abuse their powers and gain benefits for themselves, becoming exploiters as human.

It seems ridiculous for animals to have a revolution and for pigs to govern the farm. But when we put it into humans society, the story makes sense. In fact it reflects on the revolution happened in Soviet in 20th century. Animalism is similar to Socialism, which emphasizes equality a lot, but actually inequality at all. Extreme equality is tend to get into an embarrassing situation like “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” Napoleon is also the reflection of Soviets leader Si Dalin, who was famous for his arbitrariness and toughness in the history and expelled Trotsky 。

英文读后感作文篇一:《化身博士》英文读后感

Thanks God, We Have Computer Game Instead

The story of Dr Jekyll is quite famous around the world, however, Dr Jekyll himself is a typical tragic person. He is a kind and wise doctor in front of the public, but might not wise enough to adjust himself. As an old saying goes: every coin has two sides. Dr Jekyll also has his own negative side, which finally become Mr. Hide. Mr. Hide is always hunger for violence, and all the bad things he did tell us that too. People may treat him as a criminal, but to me, he is just unable to find a way to abreact.

It really doesn’t matter if you are a man lives in 19th century or comes from stone age, we are all people, we all have feelings, we all have our own Mr. or Ms Hide, the only question is, can you find a way to maintain your mental health? Maybe we can’t afford to have our own psychological consultant, but we CAN play games to relax ourselves, or realize any wildest dream in this virtual world. Imaging this, once our Dr Jekyll has some evil minds, he can turn to his computer for help. Maybe he can play some action games to satisfy his desire for “passion”, just like people today. Since the video game is always about the adventures of some superheroes, the game will guide him to the daydreaming of everything good but a criminal. As soon as he feels good again, then he will never try to become Mr. Hide in the reality. Maybe you will consider this as a na?ve idea, but computer game does reduce the crime rate in America.

英文读后感作文篇二:《简爱》英文读后感

Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.

Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’

That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.

英文读后感作文篇三:《傲慢与偏见》英文读后感

Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

英文小说读后感作文4

Since I read the book summer adventure, the wonderful plot and vivid language of the story always come to my mind.

In the story, Ma Xiaotiao and Xiao Africas bravery and resourcefulness left a deep impression on me. They made a big scene in the game restaurant and let go a lot of precious wild animals; They also found a black bear in a house. They tactfully sent the information to the "black bear protection center" and the black bear was saved; They used the clever plan of "killing chickens to show monkeys" to scare away the bad monkeys who make trouble everywhere. They used their intelligence to protect these small animals from any harm.

After reading this book, I deeply feel that animals are good friends of human beings. We should try our best to protect and love them.

英文小说读后感作文5

Super mayor is one part of the naughty bag horse jump. This book tells us that Ma xiaojump is going to run for the super mayor of the simulated city, the prodigy Lin Zicong and angels cousin. He thinks this is phoenix game, but the chicken runs to stir up. Ding Wentao, the young adult, thinks that if the elephant and the ant must be put together, the elephant will only step on the ant, But the iron brothers Tang Fei of Ma xiaojump, Zhang Da and Maochao, however, supported the small jump, and they co-ordinated them to help Ma xiaojump cross the pass. Ma xiaojump finally achieved his wish, not only became super mayor, but also held equal dialogue with the real mayor on TV on behalf of the children in the city.

There is a word to tell us that there is no difficulty in matters, just afraid of the heart of people.

This story tells us that we should not give up. If we strive to strive for this desire, we can achieve it. If we fail, we can strive for it step by step, step by step, and meet this desire. There is no best, only better.

英文小说读后感作文6

"Learning chess" is about teaching two students to play chess in Qiqiu. One of the students is absorbed in learning and only listens to Qiqius instruction. Although another student was also listening to Qiqius lecture, he always thought that there was a swan flying in the sky and wanted to shoot it down with a bow and arrow. Although this student and that dedicated student study together, but the result is far inferior to others.

In life, there are many examples, such as some students in our class, they are very smart, not inferior to other students, but always cant get high marks, because their heart is no longer in class, their mind is always thinking of some computer games. And those students who can study in a down-to-earth way are very stable because they can listen attentively in class.

In the future study and life, we should be like the dedicated students, seriously do everything, let oneself continue to progress.

英文小说读后感作文7

Today, I seriously read a story called "little black fish" at home.

The story mainly tells that in a corner of the sea, a group of happy little red fish were eaten by a fast, fierce and hungry tuna, and only one little black fish escaped. The little black fish swam to the depth of the sea alone and saw a group of little red fish. They are afraid of being eaten by big fish. The little black fish taught them to swim together and became the biggest fish in the sea. The big fish scared away.

In this story, I like little black fish best, because it is smart, witty and brave. We have to learn from it.

This story tells us that as long as we unite as one and work together, we can overcome difficulties.

Chen Siyu exchanged books with me. She gave me a book called princess story. When I first got this book, I thought it was very good-looking, but at the end, it was a very childish book, which I read when I was in kindergarten.

All the stories in this book are about princesses and princesses. At the end of each story, they are married. Princesses are kind and beautiful, princes are handsome and smart. There are also some hateful witches in the story. They all want to hurt the princess and dont let the princess marry the prince, but in the end, their magic power fails.

Because I usually like to listen to storytelling, mainly to tell some ancient stories, so when I read these princess stories again, I dont feel interested.

英文小说读后感作文10

Huihong country is the society I pursue and yearn for. There, people dont need to be suspicious of people, and they dont need to be wary of people and things around them. In todays society, there are too many factors that make us uneasy. It seems that we may be robbed by thieves, cheated by unscrupulous businessmen and abducted by human traffickers at any time. Sometimes calm down and think about it. Whats the matter now? We become more and more suspicious. When we reach out to help others, we all hesitate: does he really need help, or does he have another intention for me? Why cant we think of others as simple?

"Gullivers travels" tells me that we should live a pure life, not because of the cruelty of society, and suffer from "suspicious disease", lose the most real self. We are all members of this society. Together, we form the whole society. Society is what we are.

英文小说读后感作文11

After reading the story of "Mammy and orphan leopard", I feel very sad.

As soon as the orphan leopard was born, her mother died. It was the goats milk mother who fed the orphan leopard with her own milk. They lived happily together.

But leopard and sheep are natural enemies.

The orphan leopard accidentally killed the little white sheep and bit the head of the sheep, so the sheep were afraid to stay away from them.

In order to protect her partner, the grey forehead nurse pushed the orphan leopard down the cliff, but she was reluctant to feed herself. The orphan leopard also jumped off the cliff and died together.

How sad I am!

The mother loves the child, the child also loves the mother, therefore we must listen to the mothers words.

There is only a mother in the world. A child without a mother is like a grass.

英文小说读后感作文12

Today, I read an article called Hunter hyebb. After reading this article, I was deeply moved by the hero of the story.

In the story, hailib knows the good news, brave, honest and kind. In order to live with the little dragon girl, he would rather go to Yaoshan, where there are many beasts and stand at the dangerous peak, and take the precious stone "pull the river dry" to force the Dragon King to return the little dragon girl to him. The Dragon King gave hailibu a gem.

But it was not long. Hailib knew that the flood was coming with the gemstones that knew the animal language. He could convince the people for the safety of the people. He said the stones, heard the animal talk and the animals relocation, and finally turned into a human stone. It can be seen that hailib rewarded the people who gave him his support, knew the good news, and he loved the people better than his wife. How awe it was!

英文小说读后感作文13

Gulliver also went to the land of the English magicians, where he went back to the politics of ancient Rome, not the British system. At this time, his thought has changed from supporting the monarchy to supporting the Republic, but he only praised the patriarchal society in the "natural state".

If this view still belongs to "romantic retrogression", Gullivers description of zhimaguo points out the corrosion of civilized society to the people, indicating that only people living in a natural state. Is pure and noble.

The residents of Zhima are divided into two categories: Yahoo, which looks like a beast, and Zhima, which is intelligent and can speak. Yahoo represents the greed and corruption of human beings, while Er Zhima lives in the primitive good society. It goes without saying that if human beings degenerate, they will be no different from animals. How sad that is!

汤姆叔叔的小屋英文读后感范文1

After I finished readingUncle Tom’s Cabin,It felt like I just finished watching a movie and I myself was a character in the movie, which clearly disclose the nature of capitalism. Meanwhile, this book reconfirmed a thought that the prosperity of some capitalist countries is based on the unknowns’ sacrifice.

The story in the article is mainly about this, a sla一veholder had to sell his two sla一ves, one of whom named Tom, to pay deb一t. Faced to this kind of miserable life and being a sla一ve who is loyal to his owner, Tom never thought to run away, because he, a real believer in Christianity, had decided to pursue to be an honest man all his life. Tom’s new owner made him live a more unbearable life, what’s worse, Tom didn’t change his mind. Until the last second Tom’s last owner regretted his decision and wanted to bail Tom out, but, unfortunately, Tom died of that kind of misery.

This article analyzes the characteristics of loyalty, kindness and generosity embodied in Uncle Tom who was full of kindness was the true hero in the history of American novels, it also points out that Tom was very tolerant and weak to the cruelty of sla一very and that the black must fight back to gain freedom. Though died of sla一veholders’ persecution, Tom was a winner in the spirit, which in defiance of the physical injure , perhaps as such, Tom got the right to enjoy his dream life in the hea一ven.

As a white, Mrs. Stow wrote this article, the greatest anti-sla一very work of America in the 19thcentury, to express her idea to appeal the people in the south to stand up to fight against the sla一very sustained in the South of America, everybody in America, including the white, should sympathize with those black sla一ves on their miserable fate.

Nowadays, people still regard Tom as a symbol of never giving up pursuing to realize his value. Tom did not give up his belief regardless of the unbearable destiny, and he proved us that the black were self-governed individualities, not born to sla一ves working for the white. To some extent, it is safe to draw the conclusion that Tom would be the heretical model at all events.

汤姆叔叔的小屋英文读后感范文2

Joy depicts the crisis of faith that overcomes Rabbi Banish of Komarov, who, having buried his four sons and two daughters. Only through the mercy of the God he has denied, manifest in a radiant vision of the dead Rebecca, his beloved youngest daughter, is the rabbi’s belief restored. The sense of wonder and the touch of heavenly joy that linger after the vision dissolves convince Rabbi Banish of the folly of judging God’s actions by human standards. The rabbi has interpreted the apparent tragedy of his children’s premature deaths as evidence of God’s alienation, forgetting that God is by definition inscrutable. That God’s purpose transcends man’s ability to comprehend it is made clear to the expiring rabbi when the family dead approach his deathbed with arms outstretched to enfold him among them. For theirs is the kingdom of heaven to which a loving God has called them; and their deaths have evidenced not God’s wrath but his grace.

A version of Rabbi Banish’s deathbed revelation appears to Rabbi Nechemia in Something Is There. At twenty-seven he is already racked by the doubts that torment Rabbi Banish. So shaken is his belief in God that he deserts his rabbinical post in provincial Bechev for the flesh-posts of Warsaw. Although the prostitutes, unclean food, and shady business dealings which he witnesses there hold no attraction for the erstwhile rabbi, they intensify his revulsion from the world created by God and therefore his alienation from God himself. Unlike Rabbi Bainish, whose intimations of immortality and consequent rededication to God precede his radiant deathbed vision, Rabbi Nechemia cannot allay his doubts until the very moment of death, when a light he never knew was there flickered in hid brain.

While his dying words—something is there—resolve his crisis of faith, they come too late to affect the spiritual renewal attained by Rabbi Banish. No explicit promise of immortality, let along of salvation, attends Rabbi Nechemia’s vision. Perhaps grace is accorded Rabbi Banish because his doubt is triggered by devastating personal losses, and withheld from Rabbi Nechemia because his despair is the bitter fruit of idle speculation about the unknown. Whatever the reason, relatively few of Singer’s characters are granted at the moment of death the transcendent vision of unity between man and God that appears to Rabbi Banish in Joy. For the fortunate few, release from time into eternity is affected by a divine visitation which obliterates distinctions between past and present, living and dead.

These kinds of characters are lost in their world because of the seducement of the material world. They doubt their formal faith and gradually give up what they believed. But after they have experienced so much hardship, they realize that they cannot adapt to the life of the outer world so they regress to the former life with formal faith. They realize the importance of God and they begin to think seriously about the relationship between man and God. At last they find their right way of their life.

汤姆叔叔的小屋英文读后感范文3

These days Ive just finished the novel Uncle Toms Cabin that left a really deep impression on me and we can see.

It is a book written in 1852 in response to the passage of the Fugitive Slave Law, Uncle Toms Cabin has been considered as the most influential anti-slavery novel in that period and described by Stowe herself as a “series of sketches” describing the human cruelty of slavery, opens with a description of Arthur Shelbys Kentucky plantation during the antebellum period.

There are several impressive characters in this novel, George who is clever and brave;Harry, a beautiful and talented child who sings dances and mimes;Mrs. Shelby, a very religious woman;Sambo and Qimbo and so on. The major character Uncle Tom who was the most impressive in this novel was a devout Christian. He endured the miserable fate bravely and aroused the whites sympathy for slaves with his Christs sacrifice and the tolerance of returning good for evil. This novel focuses on the distinctive personalities of Uncle Tom deeply influenced by Christianity and the important role Uncle Toms Cabin playing on abolition; and the Significance of “Uncle Tom” to the harmonious worlds development, and the effect on modern people.

In the book, at the beginning, the author presents us a very beautiful image of a rather harmonious family who live a happy life. However, that beautiful image couldnt last long, the darkness came soon. The master of this happy family, Uncle Tom was arranged into a difficult situation. As Shelby, the not cruel master, he has incurred serious debts- prompting him sell some slaves to avoid financial ruin, so Uncle Tom, Shelbys loyal servant since childhood was sold to Mr. Haley, the slave trader. Uncle Tom remained loyal to his master, despite his betrayal and the risk of death at the cruel hands of a new master. The slaves at the plantation were very mournful, but Tom remained placid and tried to read his Bible for fort. On the steamboat to New Orleans, where Tom was to be sold, Tom befriended an angelic little girl, “Little Eva” St. Clare. Uncle Tom saved the five-year-old beauty from drowning, and she convinced her father to buy Tom for her own family. In her family, Tom enjoyed his life because of the girls love; Toms contentment does not last, however, because Eva soon falls ill. Dying, Eva asked Mr. St. Clare to free Tom after her death. But Mr. St. Clare is so sad by her death that he never legally freed Tom before he himself was killed trying to mediate a barroom scuffle. Mrs. St. Clare sold the slaves to settle her husbands debts and Tom was sold to Simon Legree who was so violent that beat his slaves brutally. At last, when Mr. Shelby, finally found Uncle Tom, he was almost died. After Tom was dead and buried, Shelby went back and freed his slaves.

As we all can see that Uncle Toms Cabin was an anti-slavery novel and it was even considered as one factor that caused the Civil War. In the novel, the slaves were sold from one place to another frequently, and their fate was tragic, with no exception- just like Uncle Tom, no matter he was under the control of kind masters or evil masters, he cant escape the misfortune of being sold from one master to another. We cant see any human right of them, so terrible.

As someone said, with more people realizing the inhumanity of slavery in the 19th century, slavery became one of the most important issues and it became more violent year by year in American society. However, slavery was not abolished irrevocably until ratification of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in 1865, following the Civil War. After the passage of Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote this novel Uncle Toms Cabin which publicized the evil of slavery to a wide audience.

Now we are in the 21st century, we may never e across such kind of thing. However, this book can always remind of us that there ever has existed this evil and we cant let it happen again. And “equality” 、“human right ” cant just be a slogan, we should make it e true really and always.
