Jingdezhen, a small city located in the eastern part of China, is known as the porcelain capital of the world. I had the chance to visit this beautiful place during my summer vacation and it was an unforgettable experience.
As soon as I arrived in Jingdezhen, I could feel a sense of history and tradition. This city has been producing porcelain for over 1,700 years and its reputation for high-quality ceramics dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Walking around the streets, I saw countless stores selling beautiful vases and plates made by skilled craftsmen.
One day, I visited a local porcelain factory where I witnessed firsthand how these exquisite works of art are created. The process was intricate and time-consuming but truly fascinating. From shaping the clay on a potter's wheel to painting delicate designs with fine brushes, every step required precision and patience.
After touring the factory, my guide took me to one of Jingdezhen's most famous landmarks - the Porcelain Tower. Standing at over 70 meters tall with nine floors adorned with ornate carvings and decorations, it was breathtakingly beautiful. Unfortunately, much of this ancient tower has been destroyed throughout history but what remains still stands as a testament to Jingdezhen's rich cultural heritage.
Aside from porcelain-related activities, there were other things to see in Jingdezhen such as its stunning natural scenery. One particular spot that left me awestruck was Sanbao International Ceramic Art Village which boasts lush green mountains surrounding tranquil lakes dotted with little islands covered in trees and flowers.
During my stay in Jingdezhen, I also had many opportunities to try out local delicacies such as their signature dish "Yiwan Noodles", handmade noodles topped with savory pork mince sauce served alongside pickled vegetables. It was simple yet delicious!
In conclusion, visiting Jingdezhen opened up my eyes to China's rich cultural background particularly when it comes to ceramic arts. This small city may not be as well-known as other tourist hotspots like Beijing or Shanghai but it definitely deserves a spot on any traveler's itinerary.
