《THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA》is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway, a very famous America novelist. It's based on a true story. It tells an old fisherman's experience about hunting a huge fish and survived from the sharks. This novel is really excellent .And it's also the last masterpiece of the ingenious novelist, Hemingway, after this novel, he killed himself.
The hero of this novel survived by hunting fish all his life time. But because the bad luck, as long as eighty-four days he got nothing. All the people laughed at him. They think he was too old , and should go home. In order to prove himself he decided to go the further distance for big fish. On his way, though he had met lots of dangerous and problems, he didn't give up. At last, he got the big fish. But his boat was too small to contain such a big fish. He had to put the fish out side of his boat. Because the blood of this fish, on his way go back , he was attacked by the sharks. On the battle with the sharks, he used all the tools as the weapons. When he reached the harbor, the fish, what had left, was only the bones.
I really like this novel ,it teach me a lot .I think it's a song for heroism .I lean that not only the solders or any others can become a hero ,but the ordinary people, no matter the old and the young ,the man and the woman, can become the hero ,too. The word in the novel "But people not live for failure, a man can be killed, but never be conquered" is very famous. And it left an impression to me. An old man, in some people's viewpoint, is really pool. Maybe he should just stay at home. But how can he overcome all the troubles, especially in that circumstances? I think it's because his spirit , the spirit of confidence ambition and never give up. A man's power or age would be restricted, but the spirit is freedom.
